One of the things that I dreamed of doing in Thailand was visiting Phang Nga Bay.
When I first visited the province in May, it was for my birthday and I wanted it to be special. A friend and I hired a private boat, because I didn’t want to do the “tourist thing” of going on a pre-packaged tour. We had a great time, just the two of us, the boat driver and his son. However, I wasn’t doing much video at that time and only came back with stills.
Last week, my friend Billii was visiting from the states but she was on a tight schedule. So, I grabbed my little Sony FDR-X3000 action cam for some impromptu video and off we went to do the “James Bond Island” tour.
Our trip included transportation to and from Phang Nga Bay, exploring the caves of Panak and Hong Islands by canoe, swimming, walking around Khao Phing Kan (AKA James Bond Island, featured in the 1974 film, “The Man with the Golden Gun”) and lunch. Although it was different from my first experience, I must say that it was a lot of fun, and can now recommend it to visitors who don’t have a lot of time to spare. With a little luck, you will get a fun-loving group of fellow travelers and a dance party will break out on the way home!
