It’s been more than a year since I lost my love and best friend, Laura Diamond.
Since then, much has happened. After the accident, I moved in with my friend Hippiechick, to whom I will be eternally grateful for being a true “friend in need”. I used the time to recover physically and mentally, both of which went better than I could have hoped. I can only attribute my path to having no resistance to what life presents me at any time. I live largely in the present moment, and the joy I experience often makes me cry with happiness.
However, the time came for Hippiechick to have her home for herself again. Around the same time, I was thinking of traveling the world, something that I had never done, but always wanted to. I knew that I wanted to go big. So, in the first week of December 2016, I put all of my stuff in storage and bought a plane ticket to Thailand with a return date in May 2017, six months. Ironically, I bought my ticket on the morning of Election Day in the U.S., before we knew what the outcome would be. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m glad I’m here, for now.
My SoCal friend, Bubba, helped me get a place to live in Phuket, a large island in the Southwest part of the country. It’s just a single apartment (condo, actually), but it’s on the third floor, with a balcony and a pretty view of Sam Kong, the district of Phuket that I live in. For the first time in my life, I don’t have a home in Los Angeles. For now, at least, I live in Thailand.
I will use Phuket as my home base, as I travel around Southeast Asia. I want to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bali, as well as extensive travel in Thailand.
As a photographer, I’m so grateful to be able to live in such a beautiful place. It will be my pleasure to share my images and stories of my journeys with you, So I hope that you will return often, and I’d love to hear from you, so feel free to comment!
Welcome to the next chapter!
